Job summary

RTX is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Advanced System Tools (AST) team in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will design, develop, test, and support software tools used for avionics development, simulation, integration, verification, and production on onsite environments.

You will code in C, C++, C#, Python, and Java, build automated test infrastructure, and contribute to DevOps practices with tools like Git, Jira, Docker, Grafana, and Jenkins.

Qualifications

• Advanced Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) OR a Bachelor's Degree with at least 12 months of relevant professional work experience.
• Familiarity with software debugging, root-cause analysis, and troubleshooting of integrated software/hardware environments.
• Familiar with DO-178/DO-330 or other regulated software development environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support software tools used for avionics development, simulation, integration, verification, and production.
• Develop software using languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, and Robot Framework; build automated test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate software issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement robust solutions with guidance from senior staff.
• Participate in peer reviews of requirements, designs, source code, and verification artifacts to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Collaborate with engineers, program teams, and internal customers to understand technical needs and deliver effective solutions.
