Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, MD, is seeking a software engineer/developer to translate missile system design characteristics into flight-ready software. A B.S. in relevant engineering or computer science with 2+ years of experience is required, along with programming skills in C++, MATLAB, or Python. Preferred qualifications include an M.S. or PhD. in a relevant field and knowledge in modeling flight systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience in programming languages such as C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Knowledge of flight dynamics, navigation, guidance, and control.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for mission planning and guidance systems.
  • Design methods for evaluating developed software.
  • Algorithmically model dynamics of hypersonic vehicles.
  • Document and present work to sponsors and collaborators.
