Job summary

RTX/C Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids is seeking motivated software engineers for an onsite internship/co‑op, developing avionics software across the full software lifecycle from requirements to delivery.

You will work in an agile team alongside experienced engineers, contributing to requirements, architecture, verification, and integration activities while gaining hands‑on experience on real aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field and actively enrolled through internship.
• Minimum of 60 credit hours by start of the internship/co‑op session.
• Experience in C/C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of software engineers, integration specialists, and test engineers to design, develop, and deliver avionics software solutions.
• Support the development, analysis, and refinement of software requirements and interfaces to ensure alignment with system‑level objectives.
• Contribute to the planning and development of software verification and testing strategies to ensure implementations meet functional and performance requirements.
• Assist with software integration, debugging, and issue resolution in development, simulation, and testing environments.
• Clearly communicate technical progress, challenges, and potential solutions to team members, mentors, and stakeholders.
