Job summary

SpaceX in Bloomfield, Connecticut is seeking a Soft Goods Technician, Sewer to oversee sewing and assembly of Starfall fabric products from prep to finish. You will work on diverse materials (nylon, kevlar, zylon, spectra) and operate sewing machines, following engineering drawings and work orders.

The role requires 1+ year in manufacturing and 2+ years sewing preferred, with ability to stand 8+ hours and work overtime. ITAR compliance and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year hands-on experience in manufacturing or production.
• Experience using workplace software (Google/Microsoft) in professional or academic settings.
• 2+ years of professional sewing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for work by gathering and sorting materials and tools.
• Handle fabrics and materials with properties (nylon, kevlar, zylon, spectra, teflon).
• Cut and mark materials from templates to tolerances.
• Read engineering drawings to assemble products accurately.
• Clock in/out using the work order system and document actions in logs.
• Install hardware like pins, rivets, grommets, snaps, zippers, and fasteners.
• Stitch components by sewing machine or by hand sewing.
• Adjust machine settings and respond to malfunctions.
• Maintain quality by inspecting materials and finished products.
• Support engineering and supervision on process improvements.
• Keep workspace clean and organized daily; adhere to safety practices.
