Job summary

SpaceX in Bloomfield, CT is hiring a Soft Goods Technician (Sewer) to produce parachutes, covers, and other fabrics for Starfall, Dragon, Starship, and Starlink programs. The role spans sewing, hardware installation, and operating automated machinery on a busy soft goods team.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, cutting to templates, reading drawings, and maintaining logs while following safety practices. Prior experience in sewing and fabric handling is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• 1+ years of hands-on work in manufacturing or production.
• 1+ year experience using workplace software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or internal systems).
• Sewing experience and knowledge of fabrics recommended.
• Experience in automotive/aerospace upholstery is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools, and workspace before starting work.
• Handle fabrics like nylon, Kevlar, Zylon, Spectra, and Teflon with proper care.
• Cut and mark materials using templates to specified tolerances.
• Read engineering drawings and follow work instructions to assemble products.
• Operate sewing machines or hand sew; adjust machine settings to maintain quality.
• Inspect materials and finished products for defects and document results.
• Support engineering to resolve assembly issues and implement process improvements.
