Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Soft Goods Technician, Cutting at the Bloomfield, CT site to operate automated cutting equipment for parachutes and other soft goods. You will pull and kit materials, set up cutting jobs, and ensure workmanship aligns with drawings and work instructions.

The role requires 1+ years in manufacturing, familiarity with textile cutting, and ability to read engineering drawings. Flexibility for long hours and overtime may be needed, with safety and 5S practices emphasized.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production setting.
• Experience operating automated cutting table equipment (Eastman, Carlson, laser cutter) and reading engineering drawings.
• Experience with textiles or soft goods marking/cutting preferred.
• Inventory management experience in a production facility.
• Experience with 5S, FOD practices and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated cutting tables to mark and cut soft goods per work orders and drawings.
• Set up jobs including material load, alignment, nesting and table settings.
• Troubleshoot minor setup issues to maintain workmanship and repeatability.
• Pull material from inventory and kit parts for cutting work; kit cut parts to the shop floor as needed.
• Verify marks and cuts against templates and dimensions; stop work if out of spec.
• Maintain table care and report equipment issues affecting cut quality.
• Perform light hand or hot-knife cuts as required.
• Navigate work orders and track time in the system.
• Keep cutting area organized (5S) and follow FOD/PPE practices.
• Support other production tasks as trained.
