Job summary

North Wind is seeking a Safety Engineer to design, implement and oversee a comprehensive EHS program for our Minnesota Aerospace Complex in Rosemount. You will lead process safety initiatives, define safety culture and SOPs, and ensure full compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations from day one.

The role requires deep MIL‑STD‑882 knowledge, OSHA/ NFPA expertise, and proven leadership to engage executives and frontline staff.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science; occupational health/safety focus preferred.
7+ years safety experience in heavy industrial environments (manufacturing, chemical, aerospace).
2+ years in leadership or program stand‑up role.
Expert knowledge of MIL‑STD‑882 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NFPA 70E.

Responsibilities

Execute system safety tasks and deliver PHAs, SSHAs, SARs to MIL‑STD‑882 milestones.
Prepare and maintain safety artifacts (SSHAs, OSHAs, HHAs).
Manage Hazard Tracking System to mitigate and verify risks.
Lead safety reviews at SRR, PDR, CDR and present SSPP and hazard statuses.
Serve as primary contact between facility operations, project teams and regulators.
Lead process safety management across multiple facilities; emphasize risk mitigation and hazard evaluation.
Familiarity with Campus Safety Management System (SMS), Emergency Plans, Hazard Communication, Confined Spaces, LASER safety, cryogenics, LOTO.
Collaborate with Facilities to integrate safety into campus layout; coordinate with local authorities during inspections.
Conduct risk assessments (JHA, PSSR) for new equipment and processes; lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
