Job summary

North Wind is seeking a proactive Safety Engineer to design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety program for a new aerospace campus in Minnesota. You will lead process safety initiatives and define a strong safety culture from day one.

The role requires 7+ years in heavy industry, expertise in MIL-STD-882, OSHA NFPA 70E, and a track record of delivering safety artifacts and regulatory compliance across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering/science field.
• 7+ years of safety experience in heavy industry (aerospace, manufacturing, chemical).
• Expert knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and OSHA NFPA 70E.
• Ability to lead culture change and regulatory liaison.

Responsibilities

• Execute system safety tasks to MIL-STD-882 milestones.
• Prepare SSHAs, SARs, and safety documentation.
• Manage Hazard Tracking System and ensure risk mitigations.
• Lead safety reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and present SSPP status.
• Act as primary liaison with facilities, regulators, and third parties.
• Drive process safety management across multiple facilities on campus.
• Coordinate Emergency Response Plans, Hazard Communications, and LOTO programs.
