Job summary

Prometheus Energetics seeks a Director of Quality to establish and sustain an AS9100D/ISO 9001 QMS for a greenfield aerospace and defense operation. You will lead an independent quality function spanning engineering, operations, supply chain, and programs, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS and customer requirements.

You will drive quality strategy, audits, and continual improvement initiatives, partnering with leadership to mitigate risks, reduce cost of quality, and ensure mission-critical

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 10 years of progressive quality experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing, including 5 years leading quality teams.
• Experience implementing AS9100-based QMS and leading registrar, customer, and government audits.
• Strong working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, calibration, and supplier quality.
• Experience translating drawings and contractual requirements into executable manufacturing and inspection controls.
• Proven ability to build teams, develop talent, and influence across functions in fast-paced startup and production environments.
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and executive communication skills; able to engage with shop-floor to senior leadership.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the quality strategy, certification roadmap, annual objectives, budget, staffing plan, and operating rhythm.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing quality organization across multiple quality functions.
• Act as independent quality authority; stop work or withhold shipment when requirements are not met.
• Establish a culture of quality and accountability; ensure product quality ownership.
• Advise leadership on quality risk, customer performance, and systemic improvement priorities.
• Lead AS9100D/ISO 9001 QMS development, certification, surveillance, and recertification.
