Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Brea, CA is seeking a Quality Inspector responsible for dimensional inspections of precision aerospace components, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and customer specs. You will operate CMM and Laser Tracker, perform First Article and in-process inspections, and support continuous improvement with manufacturing and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes meticulous data recording, calibration checks, and collaboration to resolve nonconformances.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of quality inspection experience in aerospace machining and/or fabrication.
• Hands-on experience operating portable Coordinate Measuring Machines and Laser Tracker equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs dimensional inspections on aerospace components to verify conformance with drawings and customer requirements.
• Conducts First Article, in-process, and final inspections per AS9102 and customer standards.
• Operates CMM and Laser Tracker systems for high-accuracy dimensional verification.
• Develops, executes, and validates inspection programs using metrology software.
• Interprets drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and customer specs.
• Documents inspection results and quality records per AS9100 requirements.
• Identifies and communicates quality issues with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve nonconformances.
• Verifies calibration status of inspection equipment and handles metrology tools properly.
• Supports root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
