Job summary

K2 Space in Los Angeles is seeking a Quality Inspector with 5+ years in aerospace metrology to own dimensional inspection using CMMs and other equipment. You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, and suppliers to ensure hardware meets engineering requirements.

This role helps establish K2 Space's internal inspection capability, evaluates supplier inspection, and uses inspection data to drive improvements in receiving inspections.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of dimensional inspection or metrology experience in aerospace, precision machining, or similar manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
• Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components.
• Ability to independently interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of complex machined and fabricated aerospace hardware using a CMM and conventional inspection equipment.
• Develop, execute, and improve CMM inspection programs.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to establish appropriate inspection strategies.
• Perform first article, receiving, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.
• Support inspection of large structures and assemblies using laser tracker or other portable metrology equipment.
• Analyze dimensional inspection results and clearly communicate findings to Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production, and suppliers.
• Support machine shop process development through dimensional feedback.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Quality Engineering to evaluate supplier inspection capability and performance.
• Review supplier FAIRs and dimensional inspection reports and help determine when incoming inspection can be reduced based on demonstrated supplier performance.
• Maintain inspection equipment, programs, records, and calibration status.
• Train other inspectors and technicians on dimensional inspection methods.
