Job summary

Viasat in Tempe seeks a Quality Technician to support product and process quality across the manufacturing lifecycle. You will inspect electrical/electronic and mechanical components, create inspection records, review drawings, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

The role requires an associate degree or 6+ years in a related field, IPC certifications or eligibility, strong problem-solving, and the ability to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 6+ years of relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, or related field.
• Experience inspecting electrical/electronic and/or mechanical components.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, work orders, and process documentation.
• Advanced use of inspection equipment, gauges, and inspection techniques.
• Good judgment to discern acceptable vs. rejectable conditions.
• Strong computer skills across MS Office and business platforms.
• IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620 CIS certification or ability to obtain.
• Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.
• Personal initiative and leadership when needed.
• Up to 10% travel; U.S. citizenship for government position.
• Dayshift, five days a week; weekends/overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical/electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical components and assemblies for compliance.
• Use measurement tools and microscopy to document nonconforming conditions.
• Review drawings and process documentation for product compliance.
• Create inspection records and nonconformance reports.
• Collaborate with supply chain, production, and engineering on nonconformances.
• Support MRB process with disposition recommendations and close nonconformances.
• Coordinate traveler plans and feedback; assist with End-item Data Packages (EIDP).
• Interface with quality engineers and cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
