Job summary

Matternet is seeking a Quality Engineer to manage the quality systems that keep our aircraft airworthy as we scale the M3. You will own supplier quality, manufacturing quality, nonconformance handling, and life-cycle quality from development through deployment at a hands-on, in-person site in the San Francisco Bay Area.

You will audit internal systems, perform supplier assessments, support transfers to contract manufacturing, and ensure compliance with FAA/AS9100/ISO9001.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in aerospace/avionics/robotics or similar complex hardware with embedded software as a quality engineer.
• Experience as quality lead for a certified FAA, AS9100, or ISO9001 quality management system.
• Experience managing nonconformances and MRB using an 8D/DMAIC methodology with tracking & reporting.
• Experience in quality engineering for new product development from concept through NPI lifecycle phases (DFx, PFMEA, human factors, safety assessment, fault tree analysis).
• Transitioning product from development to contract manufacturing partners for volume production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the M3 Product Quality lead role from development through full deployment.
• Manage supplier quality activities including new supplier qualification and first article approval.
• Oversee manufacturing quality, DFx, PFMEA, in-process through finished goods inspection.
• Direct nonconformance processes using 8D/DMAIC from problem definition to preventive action.
• Coordinate in-process through customer acceptance quality inspections and performance tracking.
• Partner with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory to close quality gaps.
