Job summary

Primus Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer to provide technical quality leadership across material, in-house and external manufacturing, with focus on process capability and COPQ reduction under AS9100 guidelines.

You will drive CAPA, institute statistical techniques, collaborate with Supply Chain, and lead inspections, audits and supplier quality efforts to ensure products meet requirements and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in quality, engineering, or related field.
• ASQ CQE certification preferred.
• At least 5 years aerospace quality engineering experience.
• Knowledge of SPC, capability studies, gaging, and GD&T.
• Familiarity with AS9100 standards.
• English reading/writing; strong communication.
• Ability to perform advanced math; computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s license; ITAR-compliant work eligibility.
• Secret security clearance desirable

Responsibilities

• Reduce COPQ including scrap and escapes; meet annual targets.
• Report COPQ results and drive root-cause corrections.
• Improve machine capability and implement process control systems.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to raise supplier quality; some travel.
• Support daily quality activities during staffing gaps.
• Develop CMM/SmartScope programs and fixtures.
• Train inspectors in proper inspection processes.
• Participate in contract review and FMEA to mitigate risks.
• Investigate customer quality concerns and close resolutions.
• Lead CAPA with robust root-cause analysis.
• Develop inspection and in-process control plans.
• Perform routine inspections to support production.
• Support production in part measurement and scrap reduction.
• Support MRB activities and disposition non-conforming material.
• Provide supplier quality engineering support.
• Create long and short-term improvement metrics.
• Train Quality staff on standards and sampling.
• Perform internal audits for compliance.
• Assist Quality Manager as needed.
