Job summary

Albany International Corp. is seeking a Manager, Project Engineering to lead a team of Project Engineers in delivering aerospace composite programs from development through production. You will align technical execution with program objectives while fostering engineering excellence and accountability.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering Operations, you will oversee staffing, resource allocation, and mentoring across programs including LEAP, GEnx, GE9X, and defense platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or composite product development, incl. 3+ years in a technical leadership/engineering management role.
• Strong background in composite manufacturing processes (layup, cure, assembly, MRB, NDI).
• Proven success in leading cross-functional teams through full lifecycle program execution.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5, GD&T interpretation, Windchill PDM, and SAP.
• Familiarity with DoD contract requirements, quality systems, and proposal generation.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, RCCA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to engage and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to a team of Project Engineers for multi-program execution.
• Own staffing strategy and performance management for the project engineering team.
• Oversee engineering deliverables including design definition, manufacturing support, MRB, RCCA, and technical customer communication.
• Serve as technical liaison between engineering, operations, program management, and customers.
• Lead functional excellence initiatives including lean practices, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation.
• Ensure adherence to engineering processes, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Report engineering performance metrics and program status to senior leadership; escalate issues and propose mitigations.
• Support proposal development with technical scoping, cost estimation, and strategic planning for new bids.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for high-impact issues; guide teams through complex problem-solving.
• Foster a culture of technical rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.
