Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Project Engineer to lead aviation programs in St. Charles, MO. This 6-month, full-time consulting role runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a pay rate of $71.00–$81.00 per hour. US citizenship is required due to government regulations and project needs.

You will guide cross-functional teams, develop SOWs, and ensure successful execution of aerospace programs while delivering data-driven insights to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a relevant engineering or STEM field.
• 4+ years in production or systems engineering.
• 3+ years leading cross-functional projects or teams.
• 4+ years using project management tools.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with metrics dashboards (Tableau/Power BI).
• Eligible for security clearance.

Responsibilities

Role Details

• Job Type: Full-Time Consultant (6-month assignment)

• Location: St. Charles, MO

• Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1st Shift (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

• Pay Rate: $71.00 - $81.00/hour

What You'll Do

As a Project Engineer, you will:

• Provide engineering leadership to cross-functional teams, including internal and external stakeholders

• Develop and manage Statements of Work (SOW) to support R&D, new business, and ongoing programs

• Collaborate with customers and leadership to define scope, deliverables, and approvals

• Evaluate and respond to changes in project scope, assessing impact to cost, schedule, and resources

• Lead project execution, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives

• Define and monitor performance metrics to track progress and efficiency

• Plan and coordinate resources across the full project lifecycle

• Identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation strategies

• Analyze actual performance against plans to drive continuous improvement and lessons learned

• Deliver presentations and reports to senior and executive leadership

• Support program success through data-driven decision making and reporting tools

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry

• 4+ years of related experience in production or systems engineering

• 3+ years leading cross-functional teams or projects (formal or informal leadership)

• 4+ years of experience using project management tools

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including:

  • Excel (formulas, pivot tables, macros)

  • PowerPoint for executive-level presentations

• Experience developing metrics and dashboards using Tableau or Power BI

• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills

• Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Project Management Certification (PMP)

• Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt)

• Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment

• Familiarity with DoD contracts

• Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM/CAM)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Planner
