Job summary

RTX’s Sterling Operations team seeks an experienced Production Planner to support a high‑mix, engineering‑to‑order environment. You will drive reliable execution of new and established builds, releasing orders and coordinating material flow to meet commitments.

In this onsite role in Sterling, VA, you will coordinate with procurement and program management, manage scheduling, identify delays, and implement recovery plans to stabilize the production flow and ensure on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• University degree required; 5+ years experience or advanced degree with 3+ years experience in production planning.
• Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system.
• Experience in production planning within a dynamic or engineering‑to‑order environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, release, and coordinate production orders to ensure accurate, timely movement of materials through all stages of the build process.
• Manage detailed scheduling and sequencing of orders, adjusting based on priorities, material readiness, capacity, and engineering updates.
• Identify delays or gaps; develop recovery plans to stabilize workflow and maintain schedule integrity.
• Collaborate with procurement and program management to ensure timely component availability and improve material preparation.
• Analyze and resolve MRP‑generated exceptions, addressing root causes to prevent recurrence.
• Communicate risks to order execution, schedule changes, or material issues impacting delivery or customer expectations.
• Monitor and report key production metrics like schedule adherence and WIP aging.
• Support structured, efficient, system‑driven processes from release through completion.
