Job summary

Radius Aerospace, Inc. is hiring for an Aerospace Press Operator on 2nd shift in Shelbyville, IN. In this full-time role you will operate automated and manual equipment, perform machine setups, monitor heat-treating processes, inspect parts, and work with engineers and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.

Training is provided for entry-level applicants. The position emphasizes precision, quality, and timely production in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Operates automatic and manual chemical process equipment of varying complexity in accordance with operating procedures.
• Controls heat-treating furnaces, baths and quenching equipment to alter physical and chemical properties of metal objects, using specifications and methods of controlled heating/cooling
• Places parts in racks, trays, or baskets and places objects on conveyor or loads
• Determines temperature and time of heating cycle, and type and temperature of baths and quenching medium to attain specified hardness, toughness, and ductility of parts.
• Use standard heating charts, utilize knowledge of heat treating methods, equipment, and properties of metals.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
• Installs machine replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
