Job summary

Pro-Type Metal Machining is seeking an experienced sheet metal fabricator to join our Sterling, VA shop. You will read blueprints, lay out parts, and set up presses to form, cut, drill, deburr and assemble components to tight tolerances.

You will use calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions, document each step, and escalate any drawing discrepancies with engineering or quality teams. Expect a collaborative, safety‑minded environment with AS9100 processes and modern fabrication equipment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions accurately.
• Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment for forming, bending, cutting, drilling, deburring and assembly.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Document production steps and follow AS9100/quality procedures.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to meet specifications.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, drawings and work instructions to plan layouts.
• Form, bend, cut, drill, deburr, and assemble sheet metal parts to spec.
• Set tooling and machine settings for accuracy and repeatability.
• Operate press brakes, shears, punches, saws, and related equipment.
• Inspect finished pieces with calipers, micrometers, and gauges for quality.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with PPE rules.
• Document production and troubleshooting steps as required.
