Job summary

Precision Castparts in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Plating Operator for the 3rd shift to apply chromate coatings to aerospace steel parts. You will handle racking, manual and tank treatments, and pre-cleaning steps with safety and precision in mind.

Responsibilities include safety adherence, coating execution, chemical handling, in-process inspections, and routine equipment maintenance. A HS diploma or GED and 2–3 years in manufacturing are preferred; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and interpret complex work instructions, basic blueprints, and dimensions.
• Proficient in basic shop math.
• Skilled in using basic hand tools and precision measurement instruments.
• Familiar with calculating plating times and monitoring digital process charts.
• Basic computer skills to navigate the company intranet to locate process documents.
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 45 lbs and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Safety First: Maintain strict adherence to all safety guidelines, including PPE use.
• Precision Coating: Execute intermediate racking, product loading, and manual/tank chromate treatments.
• Chemical Management: Safely make intermediate chemical additions (including acids and cyanides) according to exact specifications.
• Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections using advanced tools like X-ray units to ensure all parts meet standards.
• Technical Compliance: Correctly interpret technical documentation (C-Specs), maintain process logs, and ensure traceability.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements of racking components.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a dynamic team and align with leadership objectives.
