Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Shift Leader to head Nondestructive Testing inspections of materials and spaceflight systems. You will lead a team, ensure product quality, and coordinate with engineers to support design reviews and testing initiatives.

The role requires strong leadership, experience with multiple NDT methods, and the ability to work extended hours for production priorities. U.S. citizen or eligible status is required for security clearances and aerospace work.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NAS 410 and ASTM/AWS specs for certifications and inspection requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge in the use and application of multiple NDT methods (RT, PT, UT, ET, IR preferred).
• Knowledge of drawings, production work orders and familiarity with inventory and issue tracking systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
• Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Supervising personnel including setting near and long term goals, performance reviews, coaching, planning and managing work schedule, and monitoring labor planned versus worked hours.
• Hold group standup meetings to understand and schedule NDT work priorities.
• Coordinate with NDT Management and other supervisors to share NDT resources to meet production priorities and expand certification capabilities.
• Provide status updates on production deliverables at daily schedule meetings.
• Participate in the authoring of job descriptions, candidate screens, and interview panels.
• Promote and inspire teamwork and good employee morale.
• Maintain and acquire certifications and perform inspections as required.
• Work with engineers to review design concepts and support development tests and process development.
• Ensure training records are current and accurate.
• Ensure all products meet quality standards in accordance with released drawings.
• Maintain stock of consumables and ensure tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
• Promote and maintain 5S and FOD controls and perform audits.
• Develop and implement process improvements and safety initiatives.
• Guide teammates to ensure safe execution of tasks.
