Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a detail-oriented QA Inspector – Portable Metrology to support our Quality team on an off-shift basis in a precision aerospace environment. The role focuses on dimensional inspection using portable metrology equipment and providing independent Quality support.

The candidate will interpret drawings and GD&T, operate portable CMMs and laser trackers, and document inspection results while coordinating with Quality, Engineering and Production across shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in dimensional inspection, precision machining, manufacturing, or metrology.
• Experience operating portable measurement arms, laser trackers, CMMs, or similar equipment.
• Knowledge of Verisurf, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, SpatialAnalyzer or similar software is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of parts, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures with portable metrology equipment.
• Set up and operate portable measurement arms and laser trackers.
• Collect and document inspection data using Verisurf software.
• Interpret drawings and GD&T requirements for inspections.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as required.
• Document results and maintain quality records accurately.
• Identify and communicate nonconformances to Quality, Engineering, and Production.
• Support production with dimensional verification during the off shift.
• Perform general bench inspections with standard tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages).
• Assist with FAI and AS9102 inspections as needed.
• Maintain organized Quality documentation per procedures and customer requirements.
