Job summary

DIRECT LABOR is seeking a QA Inspector – Portable Metrology in Winfield, KS to support our Quality team on an off-shift basis in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment. This role focuses on dimensional inspection using portable measurement equipment and GD&T, with opportunities to learn advanced metrology.

You will set up and operate portable metrology tools such as FARO and laser trackers, interpret drawings, and document results while maintaining quality records.

Qualifications

• Experience in dimensional inspection and precision machining preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Reading GD&T is preferred; strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with metrology software (Verisurf, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks) a plus.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection of parts, tooling, and fixtures using portable measurement arms and laser trackers.
• Set up and operate portable metrology equipment including FARO and Hexagon systems.
• Document inspection results and maintain quality records.
• Identify and communicate dimensional nonconformances to Quality, Engineering and Production.
• Support off-shift verification and general bench inspection.
• Assist with FAI and AS9102 inspection requirements as needed.
