Job summary

Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS offers a 10-week internship for students pursuing Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. You’ll work on complex aircraft mechanical systems, including Environmental Control, Landing Gear, Hydraulics, Ice Protection, and Flight Controls, using CATIA V5 for design.

You’ll develop 3D models, build prototypes, run lab simulations, and create test plans and reports. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; on-site work is required for the internship duration.

Qualifications

• Understanding FAA and/or Military processes beneficial for certification schedules.
• Familiarity with CAD design tool processes.
• CATIA V5 experience preferred.
• Professional and diplomatic demeanor required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate designs using CATIA V5 for modeling and drafting.
• Develop 3D models to support drawings and assemblies.
• Support prototype builds and lab simulations of systems components.
• Assist in creating test plans and reports.
• Create presentations to convey test results and design trade-offs.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, Publications and other areas.
• Support production aircraft build and design interpretations.
• Coordinate design changes for experimental aircraft testing and qualification.
• Assist investigation of customer aircraft and system issues.
