Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead and scale the mechanical engineering organization for aerospace and space applications. This role combines people leadership with technical direction across multiple programs, from concept through in-orbit support, ensuring robust processes and milestone delivery.

The ideal candidate will have extensive aerospace mechanical design expertise, experience with packaging at PCBA/system levels, and a track record of architecture-level

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7–9 years of mechanical design and analysis experience for aerospace/space systems with 1–3 years in engineering management.
• Deep expertise in mechanical design and analysis for aerospace/space applications.
• Experience with electronics packaging at PCBA and system levels.
• Knowledge of environmental testing and qualification standards for space hardware.
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, composites, additive manufacturing).
• Proficiency with CAD and PDM tools (e.g., SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM).
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation).
• Strong communication skills for technical concepts and reviews.

• Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching and evaluations.
• Drive employee engagement, retention, and career development.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to recruit engineering talent.
• Lead mechanical architecture development and key design decisions.
• Oversee system-level requirements and interface management.
• Guide full development lifecycle from concept to qualification.
• Lead internal and external design reviews with customers and leadership.
