Job summary

Aerostar in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking an engineering intern to support product development activities. You will learn the development process, document designs, and assist internal teams or customers on current projects within an aerospace/mechanical engineering context.

Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and have hands-on lab or manufacturing exposure, plus skills in SolidWorks, Matlab, or Python.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel is required.
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, and/or lab settings are highly desired.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, Matlab, or Python is preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, without close supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

Responsibilities

• Learn the product development process and apply design efforts on your own project.
• Document design and testing as appropriate on each phase of the project.
• Provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers on existing projects.
• Use knowledge and skills in the engineering discipline.
• Performs technical work that does not require previous experience.
• Works independently, as well as with a team.
• Complete summer end internship presentation.
• Demonstrated the guiding principles of Aerostar.
• May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
