Job summary

Jobtailor in Alabama is seeking a diligent Mechanical Engineering student to assist in designing components and systems, including airframes and enclosures. You will create 3D CAD models in SolidWorks and support simulations to verify designs.

You'll participate in prototyping, assembly, and testing with in‑house tools, generate drawings and BOMs, and collaborate with engineers on design reviews, documentation, and change processes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (prefer SolidWorks).
• Familiar with machined parts, sheet metal, plastics, or composites.
• Exposure to prototyping, lab testing, or mechanical assembly through projects.
• Knowledge of engineering drawing standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing mechanical components and systems such as airframes and enclosures.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Support simulations using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Prototype fabrication and testing using in-house tools and 3D printing.
• Generate technical drawings and bills of materials per standards.
• Collaborate on design reviews, testing, and system integration.
• Document design progress and test results.
• Assist with configuration control and engineering change processes.
• Perform other tasks supporting ongoing development.
