We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Edwards AFB, CA. ASRC Federal, on the ASTROS Contract, supports the Nation’s premier test facility, which provides a wide range of propulsion test support. We need a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a new project that involves designing, building, and testing a customer’s asset. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to and shape the next generation of propulsion technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure open communication within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Meet with customers to determine workload and upcoming test requirements.
  • Perform test assessments to ensure all support aspects are covered.
  • Plan test requirements and ensure the facility is prepared for testing.
  • Develop drawings as needed and maintain updated configuration management.
  • Create Work Authorizations based on engineering developments and monitor progress.
  • Build strong relationships within the engineering team and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Work independently and communicate progress effectively.
  • Support build-up and test execution at designated test sites.
  • Coordinate with project staff to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Be familiar with test software systems.
  • Ensure all work is performed following Safe Plans of Action or Work Authorizations.
  • Provide routine briefings to Operations, Safety, and Site Scheduling teams.
  • Assist senior leadership during test readiness reviews prior to customer approval.
  • Gain access to the customer’s computer networks as required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated growth in experience and abilities.

Security Clearance Required.
