Job summary

AMETEK SFMS in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on the development of aerospace components, including temperature sensors, speed sensors, air flow sensors, and cables.

You will design, test, and certify electromechanical devices and generate technical documentation. Responsibilities include 3D modeling with SolidWorks, performing structural and thermal analyses, reviewing specs, and integrating Six Sigma and reliability into designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 7+ years designing electromechanical sensing devices in a regulated industry.
• Proficiency with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with SolidWorks 2020 or later.
• Experience with FEA analysis.
• Knowledge of aerospace components and standards is a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Legal right to work in the US and export-controlled information access.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with AI tools to improve productivity.

Responsibilities

• Design, manufacture, test & certification of electromechanical sensing devices such as RTD’s, Thermocouples, Speed Sensors, and Cables.
• Develop new technologies to sustain competitive advantage while working within a multidisciplined team environment.
• Create 3D models utilizing SolidWorks, specifying materials and assembly methods.
• Create and issue technical documentation to support new and existing product designs (design reports, FMEA’s, test procedures, test reports).
• Perform Structural, Thermal, Fatigue, and Dimensional Analyses using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis methods.
• Review customer and industry specifications in support of bids and product design processes.
• Integrate design for six sigma, reliability & manufacturability into each product design while achieving customer objectives.
• Must be able to function as an individual contributor, team member, and leader.
• Organized and analytical, able to overcome obstacles through creative approaches.
• Collaborate with teams and utilize AI tools to improve productivity.
