Job summary

Inversion seeks a Mechanical Engineer Intern to contribute to mission-critical hardware for a leading reentry vehicle. You will work with a seasoned mechanical team to move flight hardware from concept to testable hardware, spanning CAD design, drawings, analyses, procurement, assembly, and integration.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Hands-on engineering experience from coursework or projects.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks/Creo).
• Fundamental mechanics, heat transfer, materials properties knowledge.
• Strong communication and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of mechanical systems and test equipment.
• Create and revise 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings.
• Perform analysis using first principles, hand analysis, and FEA.
• Plan and execute hardware test campaigns; document results.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, technicians, and integration teams.
• Maintain engineering documentation and design specifications.
• Take ownership of well-scoped projects and report progress.
