Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aerospace Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and test mechanical systems for next-generation aircraft and spacecraft in Welkom, Free State. You will perform advanced analyses, create detailed drawings, and lead teammate collaborations to ensure design integrity and performance.

Required are a mechanical engineering degree with aerospace specialization and 4–6 years of relevant experience, plus proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks and ANSYS/Nastran.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 4-6 years of relevant aerospace mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS, Nastran).
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
• Experience with aircraft systems, propulsion, or structures is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and develop mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications including airframes, propulsion, and control mechanisms.
• Perform stress, thermal, and CFD analyses to ensure design integrity.
• Create manufacturing drawings, assembly instructions, and specifications per AS9100 standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate designs into larger systems.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of flight hardware.
