Job summary

Bascom Hunter is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Phoenix/Glendale to support design, development, analysis, and testing of aerospace and defense systems. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across the development lifecycle, from concepts through prototyping and documentation.

The internship offers hands-on experience in thermal management, precision rotating machinery, mechanical packaging, and ruggedized electronics, with a paid internship structure and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Junior or Senior undergraduate standing preferred.
• Experience with CAD and 3D modeling; SolidWorks preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Develop 3D models, mechanical designs, and packaging concepts using CAD tools.
• Support structural, thermal, and fluid analysis to evaluate performance.
• Assist with thermal system and precision rotating machinery development.
• Conduct research and help formulate solutions to technical challenges.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing of components and systems.
• Assist with experiments, data collection, analysis, and test documentation.
• Prepare engineering drawings and technical reports.
