Job summary

Actalent in Westbury, NY is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for aerospace and hydraulics. You will own projects from concept through qualification and production, designing mechanical and hydraulic components and supporting manufacturing readiness.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, and testing teams along the full product lifecycle, perform analyses, create drawings, and engage with customers on technical projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
• 3+ years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
• Experience designing mechanical systems, components, or assemblies.
• Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience supporting products through design, testing, and manufacturing.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and task management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design & Product Development: Develop conceptual designs from customer requirements and engineering specifications.
• Lead product development efforts from initial concept through production release.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, models, documentation, and technical data packages.
• Design mechanical components, hydraulic systems, fuel system components, and aerospace hardware.
• Support production readiness and manufacturing implementation activities.
• Engineering Analysis: Perform and document engineering analyses including tolerance stack-up studies, structural analysis, hydraulic analysis, dynamic analysis, and vibration analysis.
• Root cause investigations and design verification activities.
• Qualification Testing & Validation: Develop qualification test plans and procedures.
• Support and oversee testing activities including shock, vibration, environmental and endurance testing.
• Analyze test data and develop technical reports.
• Work closely with engineering and quality teams to validate product performance.
• Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as primary technical point of contact for customers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, testing, and engineering teams.
• Support troubleshooting efforts for both new and legacy products.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
