Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Torrance, California seeks an Advanced Materials/Process Engineer to provide technical consulting on chemical processing and coatings for corrosion control, thermal management, and fluid compatibility. You will interface with design and manufacturing engineers, the materials lab, suppliers, and customers to generate specs, testing plans, and audits for end-item configurations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical processing, including chemical surface treatments and coatings of aerospace alloys for corrosion control and other environmental performance characteristics.
Experience and ability to interpret, review, and disposition blueprints and specifications to ensure customer and internal material and process requirements are properly incorporated into Honeywell Aerospace designs.
Willingness to participate in development towards a certifying agent role (supplier auditor) with the Chemical Process team.
Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and independently manage multiple projects and assignments.

Responsibilities

Provide technical consulting for chemical processing and coatings in corrosion control, thermal management, and fluid compatibility.
Interface with design engineers, manufacturing engineers and technicians, internal materials lab, suppliers, and external customers to generate specifications, testing plans, fixed-process approvals, and audits.
Team with other engineers to ensure material and process requirements are met on environmental control system and engines & propulsion programs.
Participate across the product life cycle from development, to current production, to program sunset.
