Job summary

Applied Aerospace & Defense in Manchester seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and manufacturing teams in a demanding aerospace environment. You will guide machining, process development, and NPI, ensuring robust documentation and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in manufacturing engineering with leadership, deep knowledge of traditional machining, GD&T, and AS9100.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with leadership.
• Strong practical knowledge of traditional machining and metal manufacturing.
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing or similarly demanding precision manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, tolerances, GD&T.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing problems and develop solutions.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing engineering personnel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing and process engineers.
• Provide technical direction for complex manufacturing challenges.
• Apply machining knowledge across CNC, turning, milling, grinding, drilling operations.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies.
• Partner with shop floor personnel to resolve issues and drive improvements.
• Drive safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery improvements.
• Support NPI, process development, and production launches.
• Review and improve methods, tooling, fixtures, and process documentation.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for issues.
