Job summary

AeroVironment invites students to join the Summer Internship Program as Manufacturing Engineering Interns across multiple teams in the United States. You will assist design and operation of manufacturing systems, analyze production data, and contribute to Lean and Six Sigma driven improvements.

This 12-week, onsite program targets motivated students or recent graduates with a 3.0+ GPA and opportunities for relocation/housing stipends depending on team/location. Interview details to follow.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Industrial or Mechanical engineering.
• Some coursework or experience in manufacturing or quality control.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.
• CAD/SolidWorks experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% to supplier sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in improving manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
• Help apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods for CI.
• Analyze production data: yields, capacity, cost, and process capability.
• Document standard work hours, sequences, and assembly procedures.
• Generate and update work instructions controlling manufacturing processes.
• Support root cause analysis for materials, design, equipment, and people.
• Assist in capacity planning and factory layout for efficiency.
• Support cost estimation for tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Collaborate with design to address Design for Manufacturing considerations.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement projects with engineering and suppliers.
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities where needed.
• Gain hands-on experience on production floor activities.
