Job summary

Actalent seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for an aerospace sheet metal forming facility in Chandler, AZ. You will translate designs into robust production methods, lead NPI, and drive continuous improvement in an AS9100 environment.

Responsibilities include developing tools and fixtures, creating process layouts, and collaborating with customers, vendors, and internal teams to meet quality and cost targets. This onsite role offers growth in a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or 7+ years in aerospace sheet metal manufacturing.
• 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, tooling design, and process development for metal forming/aerospace sheet metal.
• Experience with hydroforming, heat treat, brazing, laser cutting, brake forming, welding (TIG/resistance), and NDT.
• Proficiency with aluminum, nickel alloys, stainless steels, and titanium.
• Strong CAD modeling for tools/fixtures; 7+ years; CAD ability 7/10+.
• Daily GD&T usage in recent roles.
• Experience with ERP systems for BOMs, routings, and work orders.
• AS9100 or similar quality frameworks; lean and 5S familiarity.
• Exposure to continuous improvement and 5S within manufacturing cells.

Responsibilities

• Develop new manufacturing processes and tooling for aerospace sheet metal components.
• Lead project plans for new product development orders, ensure timelines and quality targets.
• Create tooling, fixtures, and process documentation with CAD; source internally or via vendors.
• Review customer docs; ensure manufacturing plans reflect requirements.
• Provide technical support to shop/inspection, disposition MRB, investigate quality issues.
• Coordinate with customers and suppliers to resolve technical and process challenges.
• Monitor metrics (gross margin, scrap, rework, 5S) and implement improvements.
• Support or participate in multi-axis programming (e.g., laser cutting) where needed.
