Job summary

Inversion, an aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join the Arc Vehicle Integration team in Playa Vista, CA. You will assist in building, integrating, and testing critical subsystems for the Arc hypersonic reentry vehicle, supporting the handoff from engineering to the shop floor and helping improve build sequences.

Qualifications

• Rising senior pursuing ME, AE, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience authoring detailed assembly procedures and managing build configurations.
• Experience designing tooling/fixtures or GSE in CAD (Siemens NX) and applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve manufacturing and assembly processes for complex mechanical and electromechanical systems.
• Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process docs, and assembly procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, safety, and repeatability.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to review designs for manufacturability and serviceability.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on tooling and assembly considerations.
• Support transition of designs into executable manufacturing processes.
• Work with technicians and engineers to support hardware assembly, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Identify root causes of manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data to drive improvements and inform decisions.
• Design, build, and proof-load fixtures, tooling, and GSE using CAD.
