Job summary

Inversion in Playa Vista, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to contribute to mission-critical hardware for a next‑gen reentry vehicle. You will work with experienced engineers on from concepts to testable hardware.

You may participate across the lifecycle from CAD design and drawings to analysis, procurement, assembly, testing, and vehicle integration, reporting to the Director of Mechanical.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Hands-on engineering interest demonstrated via projects or internships.
• Experience with CAD software (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks/Creo).
• Strong fundamentals in statics, materials, heat transfer, and design.
• Proactive, fast learner with good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and development of mechanical systems and tooling.
• Create and revise 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform basic analysis using first principles and FEA concepts.
• Support hardware test campaigns: setup, execution, and documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and integration teams on builds.
