Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Safety Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of lab safety or EHS in technical/research setting.
• Experience with lithium-ion battery safety handling and storage.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, ASHRAE, EPA standards.
• Experience with lab and building infrastructure systems (HVAC, gas, electrical).
• Experience with fire alarm panels, suppression systems, and emergency power.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Hands-on in a dynamic lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hazard analyses for lab equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.
• Support design, setup, and relocation of lab equipment meeting safety standards.
• Monitor ventilation, fire suppression, gas detection, and containment systems.
• Partner with EHS and Facilities to identify and mitigate risks.
• Investigate incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Lead or support internal audits and regulatory inspections.
• Develop and deliver safety training for lab staff.
• Maintain SDS, logs, calibration records, and compliance reports.
• Oversee ITM of fire safety systems and life safety audits.
• Coordinate with local fire departments and regulatory agencies as needed.
