Job summary

Aerotek is hiring an Inspector for a contract position based in Hawthorne, CA. The role focuses on in-process inspections of aerospace and composite components using drawings, CAD models, and precision tools to ensure conformance with design requirements.

You will work with cross-functional teams, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement efforts within a formal quality system while handling materials safely on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience in aerospace, military, or manufacturing.
• Proficiency using digital calipers and digital micrometers for precise measurement.
• Experience using borescopes to inspect internal features and difficult-to-access areas.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to verify conformance to specifications.
• Strong quality assurance mindset with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Ability to follow and apply established inspection procedures and quality standards.
• Competence in documenting non-conformances clearly and accurately according to defined processes.
• Understanding of quality management system (QMS) principles and compliance requirements.
• Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts.
• Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams on quality-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed in-process inspections on components using drawings, CAD models, and established procedures to verify conformance to manufacturing and design requirements.
• Use precision inspection tools, including digital calipers, digital micrometers, and borescopes, to measure and evaluate parts and assemblies.
• Review and interpret blueprints to confirm that components meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to the receiving and storage of composite raw materials.
• Document production non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures and processes, maintaining accurate and thorough records.
• Support the quality management system (QMS) by following established policies and procedures and assessing compliance with company and industry standards.
• Initiate and lead continual improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency in inspection and production processes.
• Support the Material Review Board (MRB) process by documenting, tracking, and managing non-conformances through resolution.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address inspection findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while handling materials and equipment in accordance with company guidelines.
