Job summary

Moog Inc. in Torrance, CA is seeking a skilled Hone Machine Operator for 2nd shift to set up, program, and run honing equipment on aerospace components. You will read drawings, select tools, maintain tight tolerances, and document inspection results to meet engineering and FAA standards.

The role requires experience with honing machines, GD&T, and precision measurement, plus the ability to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
• Minimum 3 years experience setting up and operating honing machines.
• Ability to read verbal, written and computer work instructions in English.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate horizontal and vertical honing machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Hone precision aerospace components to required tolerances and surface finishes.
• Measure parts using bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and air gauges.
• Verify conformance to customer and aerospace quality requirements; document results.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities.
• Follow all safety procedures and AS9100 quality system requirements.
• Collaborate with machinists, quality inspectors, engineers, and production personnel.
