Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer to ensure robustness of VBAT flight hardware. You will lead reliability verification from concept through production, perform environmental testing, and conduct failure analysis to drive design improvements.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supplier teams, apply FMEA, and review designs for release. Candidates should have 3+ years in hardware reliability, with aerospace or automotive focus, and may pursue a security

Qualifications

• BS in Materials Engineering or a related field.
• MS preferred; other engineering majors acceptable.
• 3+ years of hardware reliability experience, preferably in aerospace or automotive.
• Experience with environmental testing (HALT, HASS) and stress screening.
• Familiarity with PCB fabrication, SMT, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance (S//SAR) is desired.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
• Proficiency in Python and reliability modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement design-for-reliability practices and rigorous testing.
• Lead environmental and stress testing and conduct failure analysis.
• Analyze test results to identify failure modes and mitigations.
• Collaborate with design engineers early to apply reliability concepts.
• Review and approve designs for release as a key stakeholder.
• Participate in FMEA and design reviews to assess reliability issues.
• Investigate non-conformances and field failures to determine root cause.
• Travel as needed to assess supplier processes and implement corrective actions.
• Use reliability modeling to predict system lifespan and performance.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in hardware reliability.
