Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Reliability Modeling Engineer to own the reliability model and failure-prediction strategy for the V-BAT unmanned aircraft system. You will translate field data and test results into models informing design, production, and sustainment decisions, partnering across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

The role emphasizes building reliability models, conducting RAM/Weibull analyses, and driving corrective actions to improve system reliability.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics required.
• 5+ years in reliability/surety engineering in high-consequence industries.
• Expertise with FTA, FMECA, and MTBF calculations.
• Ability to build reliability models from field/test data and drive design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the V-BAT system reliability model using field and industry data.
• Create and maintain the V-BAT fault tree and identify single points of failure.
• Provide Design-for-Reliability guidance in design reviews.
• Collaborate with Design, Fleet Support, Quality, and Manufacturing on root cause investigations.
• Lead reliability test campaigns in production and sustainment to validate predictions.
• Run production reliability screening campaigns to reduce infant-mortality failures.
• Track MTBF, failure-rate trends, and reliability growth; communicate risk to leadership.
