Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Reliability Modeling Engineer to own the reliability model and failure-prediction strategy for the V-BAT unmanned aircraft system. You will translate field data, industry sources, and test results into models that inform design, production, and sustainment decisions.

You will partner with Design, Fleet Support, Quality, and Manufacturing to drive improvements in system reliability, establish metrics, and guide design-for-reliability activities in reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of reliability or surety engineering experience in high-consequence industries (defense, aerospace, automotive, or medical devices).
• Experience with FTA, FMECA, MTBF calculations and reliability modeling from field/test data.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the V-BAT reliability model using field and industry data.
• Create the V-BAT fault tree and quantify contributions to reliability.
• Inform design decisions with Design-for-Reliability guidance in reviews.
• Collaborate with Design, Fleet Support, Quality, and Manufacturing for root-cause investigations.
• Lead reliability test campaigns in production and sustainment.
• Drive reliability screening campaigns (HASS, ESS).
• Establish metrics (MTBF, failure-rate trends) and report risk to leadership.
