Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking an Aerospace Hardware Development Engineer in Redmond, WA to design housings, PCBs, and thermal components for the Leo program. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop electromechanical solutions, evaluate design tradeoffs, and prepare for high-volume manufacturing.

The role requires 2+ years in hardware design and validation, experience with 3D CAD (Pro/Engineer), and strong tolerance and environmental testing knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working with product validation and conducting detailed FA following environmental stressing (Shock/Drop, Cycle Testing, Environmental Testing)
  • Experience with 3D CAD skills, ProEngineer
  • Experience creating surface model and top-down design architecture
  • Experience with Tolerance Analysis and Statistical Process Control

Responsibilities

  • PD Direct Responsible Individual (DRI) for multiple system components (housings, PCBs, thermal components, etc).
  • Work with cross functional team to solve difficult electromechanical problems to enable the design.
  • Identify key design constrains and priorities.
  • Demonstrate solid mechanical fundamentals and judgement through design decisions
  • Deliver robust, flexible, durable, and performant designs
  • Concise and accurate communication with PD members, cross functional teams, and executives.
  • Customer focused when solving ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to create scalable solutions while solving tactical problems.
  • Position will require international travel.
