Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Field Service Technician I to perform maintenance, repair, and support on aerospace equipment at customer sites. You will install, operate, maintain, and upgrade systems, keeping detailed field records and collaborating with customers to ensure optimal product performance.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, basic electrical knowledge, Linux familiarity, and the ability to travel domestically and abroad as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
• Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Exposure to technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
• Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques
• Basic understanding of electrical wiring concepts
• Familiar with Linux operating system and commands
• Prior experience with Security+, Network+, CCNA and/or A+
• Ability to travel outside the continental US (OCONUS), for extended periods of time
• Ability to travel within the continental US (CONUS) as needed
• Hands-on experience working with hardware components and systems
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving system-related issues
• Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations
• Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations
• Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required
• Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair on aerospace and defense equipment and systems.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Provide on-site training and support to customers on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status updates.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to report and troubleshoot complex technical problems.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while performing all tasks.
• Manage and maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools.
• Provide timely and accurate reports to supervisors and project managers.
• Travel to various customer locations as required.
