Job description

Aerospace Engineer – Naval Research Laboratory

Technology Service Corporation (TSC) is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to support work at the Naval Research Laboratory. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact high‑priority Navy missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, testing, and integration of hypersonic systems, including glide vehicles, boosters, guidance/navigation, and thermal protection systems.
  • Support systems engineering activities such as requirements definition, risk management, interface control, and verification/validation (V&V).
  • Review and evaluate contractor technical proposals, system designs, and test plans for compliance with performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Lead or support flight test planning, execution, and data analysis.
  • Contribute to technology maturation plans, modeling and simulation activities, and digital engineering initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports, briefings, and documentation for senior stakeholders and decision‑makers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide SME input across multidisciplinary domains.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship and active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience in hypersonics, missile systems, or advanced weapon development preferred.
  • Strong understanding of high‑speed aerodynamics, thermal management, and materials engineering for extreme environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, test and evaluation protocols, and system development lifecycles.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting Navy, DARPA, or OSD‑led hypersonic initiatives.
  • Experience with digital engineering tools such as Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), ANSYS, MATLAB, or CFD tools.
  • Knowledge of Navy‑specific mission requirements and platforms.
Salary and Benefits

In compliance with applicable pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position is $118,000 – $210,000 per year, depending on experience and location. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus and may include equity or incentive compensation as part of the total rewards package.
