Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician to work on avionics from business, regional, and air-transport jet aircraft. You will apply electronics and mechanical theory to configure, test, troubleshoot, and modify engineering prototypes and first articles.

Candidates must have an AA/AS degree (or 2‑year post‑high‑school training) with at least 6 years of relevant experience and hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power sources.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
• Experience with applicable test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and power sources.

Responsibilities

• Applies extensive electronic and mechanical theory to configure, model, construct, test, troubleshoot, and modify engineering prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment.
• Performs assignments requiring advanced skill, use and application of engineering or scientific principles and techniques in a wide variety of highly complex technical tasks and projects including;
• Evaluates and resolves calibration and troubleshooting problems.
• Performs precision testing and performs or supervises precision assembly of engineering equipment.
• Prepares reports, charts and graphs with recommendations for improvement.
• Assists engineers in the design, development and evaluation of new products and recommends product improvements or manufacturing modifications.
• Designs, develops and oversees building of experimental or prototype models or test fixtures.
• Determines test methods, revises test equipment modifications and evaluates product/equipment performance utilizing test results.
