Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Prototype Engineer to join the Prototyping & Integration Team in the Northridge, CA lab. You will fabricate prototype wire harnesses and PCB assemblies for next-generation optical communication hardware, building from schematics to validated assemblies.

The role emphasizes hands-on fabrication, documentation, BOM generation, and procurement coordination in a fast-paced, ESd-controlled lab. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related STEM discipline; or 5+ years of hands-on experience.
• Experience building wire harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies with soldering and PCB rework.

Responsibilities

• Execute prototype harness builds and electro-mechanical assemblies from schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Perform PCB soldering, rework, and inspection (through-hole and surface mount).
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and procure hardware and components.
• Operate hand tools, DVMs, hi-pot testers, and harness software to validate builds.
• Create and maintain harness schematics, routing drawings, and assembly notes for repeatable builds.
• Communicate build status and blockers to engineers and leaders while maintaining a clean lab.
